Surah Al Ala With English Translations

سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْاَعْلَى(1)

Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High, (1)

الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى(2)

Who created and proportioned (2)

وَ الَّذِیْ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰى(3)

And Who determined and [then] guided (3)

وَ الَّذِیْۤ اَخْرَ جَ الْمَرْعٰى(4)

And Who brought forth pasture (4)

فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَآءً اَحْوٰىﭤ(5)

And then made it black stubble. (5)

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسٰۤى(6)

We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget, (6)

اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰهُؕ-اِنَّهٗ یَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَ مَا یَخْفٰىﭤ(7)

Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden. (7)

وَ نُیَسِّرُكَ لِلْیُسْرٰى(8)

And We will ease you toward ease. (8)

فَذَكِّرْ اِنْ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرٰىﭤ(9)

So remind [them], if the reminder benefits [them]. (9)

سَیَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ یَّخْشٰى(10)

He who fears [Allah] will be reminded, (10)

وَ یَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْاَشْقَى(11)

But the wretched one will avoid it - (11)

الَّذِیْ یَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرٰى(12)

[He] who will enter the greatest Fire, (12)

ثُمَّ لَا یَمُوْتُ فِیْهَا وَ لَا یَحْیٰىﭤ(13)

Then he will neither die therein nor live. (13)

قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكّٰى(14)

He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself (14)

وَ ذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰىﭤ(15)

And mentions the name of his Lord and prays. (15)

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُوْنَ الْحَیٰوةَ الدُّنْیَا(16)

But you prefer the worldly life, (16)

وَ الْاٰخِرَةُ خَیْرٌ وَّ اَبْقٰىﭤ(17)

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring. (17)

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِی الصُّحُفِ الْاُوْلٰى(18)

Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, (18)

صُحُفِ اِبْرٰهِیْمَ وَ مُوْسٰى(19)

The scriptures of Abraham and Moses. (19)
