Surah Al Balad With English Translations

90 اَلْبَـلَد ( مکیۃ) 35

أعوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

اٰياتها
20

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Play Audio And Listen Surah Al Balad

لَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِ(1)

I swear by this city [Makkah] - (1)

وَ اَنْتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِ(2)

And you, [O Muhammad], are a resident of this city - (2)

وَ وَالِدٍ وَّ مَا وَلَدَ(3)

And [by] a father and what he fathered - (3)

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ فِیْ كَبَدٍﭤ(4)

We have certainly created man in hardship. (4)

اَیَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّنْ یَّقْدِرَ عَلَیْهِ اَحَدٌﭥ(5)

Does he think that no one has power over him? (5)

یَقُوْلُ اَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًاﭤ(6)

He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." (6)

اَیَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّمْ یَرَهٗۤ اَحَدٌﭤ(7)

Does he think that no one sees him? (7)

اَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ عَیْنَیْنِ(8)

Have We not made for him two eyes (8)

وَ لِسَانًا وَّ شَفَتَیْنِ(9)

And a tongue and two lips? (9)

وَ هَدَیْنٰهُ النَّجْدَیْنِ(10)

And have We not shown him the two ways [of good and evil]? (10)

فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ(11)

But he has not attempted [to pass through] the difficult pass. (11)

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُﭤ(12)

And what can make you know what is [passing through] the difficult pass? (12)

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ(13)

[It is] freeing a slave (13)

اَوْ اِطْعٰمٌ فِیْ یَوْمٍ ذِیْ مَسْغَبَةٍ(14)

Or feeding [the poor] on a day of famine (14)

یَّتِیْمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ(15)

An orphan of near relationship (15)

اَوْ مِسْكِیْنًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍﭤ(16)

Or a needy person in misery. (16)

ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ تَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَ تَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِﭤ(17)

Then being of those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. (17)

اُولٰٓىٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَیْمَنَةِﭤ(18)

Those are the companions of the right. (18)

وَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِاٰیٰتِنَا هُمْ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَشْــٴَـمَةِﭤ(19)

But those who disbelieved in Our verses - they are the companions of the left. (19)

عَلَیْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ(20)

Upon them will be fire made airtight. (20)
