Surah Al Buruj With English Translations

وَ السَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوْجِ(1)

By the sky containing great stars (1)

وَ الْیَوْمِ الْمَوْعُوْدِ(2)

And [by] the promised Day (2)

وَ شَاهِدٍ وَّ مَشْهُوْدٍﭤ(3)

And [by] the witness and what is witnessed. (3)

قُتِلَ اَصْحٰبُ الْاُخْدُوْدِ(4)

Cursed were the companions of the trench (4)

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُوْدِ(5)

Of the fire full of fuel, (5)

اِذْ هُمْ عَلَیْهَا قُعُوْدٌ(6)

When they were sitting near it (6)

وَّ هُمْ عَلٰى مَا یَفْعَلُوْنَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ شُهُوْدٌﭤ(7)

And they, to what they were doing to the believers, were witnesses. (7)

وَ مَا نَقَمُوْا مِنْهُمْ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ یُّؤْمِنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَزِیْزِ الْحَمِیْدِ(8)

And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, (8)

الَّذِیْ لَهٗ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَیْءٍ شَهِیْدٌﭤ(9)

To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is witness. (9)

اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ یَتُوْبُوْا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَ لَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِیْقِﭤ(10)

Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. (10)

اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتٌ تَجْرِیْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ ﲜ ذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِیْرُﭤ(11)

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. (11)

اِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِیْدٌﭤ(12)

Indeed, the striking [power] of your Lord is severe. (12)

اِنَّهٗ هُوَ یُبْدِئُ وَ یُعِیْدُ(13)

Indeed, it is He who begins [creation] and repeats it, (13)

وَ هُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الْوَدُوْدُ(14)

And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, (14)

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِیْدُ(15)

Owner of the Throne, the Glorious, (15)

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا یُرِیْدُﭤ(16)

Effecter of what He intends. (16)

هَلْ اَتٰىكَ حَدِیْثُ الْجُنُوْدِ(17)

Has there reached you the story of the soldiers (17)

فِرْعَوْنَ وَ ثَمُوْدَﭤ(18)

Of Pharaoh and Thamud? (18)

بَلِ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا فِیْ تَكْذِیْبٍ(19)

But those who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, (19)

وَّ اللّٰهُ مِنْ وَّرَآىٕهِمْ مُّحِیْطٌ(20)

While Allah encompasses them from behind. (20)

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْاٰنٌ مَّجِیْدٌ(21)

But it is a glorious Qur'an (21)

فِیْ لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوْظٍ(22)

[Inscribed] in the Preserved Tablet. (22)
