Surah Al Ghashiyah With English Translations

هَلْ اَتٰىكَ حَدِیْثُ الْغَاشِیَةِﭤ(1)

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [Event]? (1)

وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىٕذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ(2)

[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, (2)

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ(3)

Laboring [hard], exhausted. (3)

تَصْلٰى نَارًا حَامِیَةً(4)

They will [enter to] burn in a scorching Fire. (4)

تُسْقٰى مِنْ عَیْنٍ اٰنِیَةٍﭤ(5)

They will be given drink from a boiling spring. (5)

لَیْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِیْعٍ(6)

For them there will be no food except from a thorny plant (6)

لَّا یُسْمِنُ وَ لَا یُغْنِیْ مِنْ جُوْ عٍﭤ(7)

Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. (7)

وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىٕذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ(8)

[Other] faces, that Day, will be radiant, (8)

لِّسَعْیِهَا رَاضِیَةٌ(9)

For their effort satisfied. (9)

فِیْ جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةٍ(10)

In a lofty Paradise (10)

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِیْهَا لَاغِیَةًﭤ(11)

Where they will not hear any harmful speech. (11)

فِیْهَا عَیْنٌ جَارِیَةٌﭥ(12)

Within it is a flowing spring. (12)

فِیْهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوْعَةٌ(13)

Within it are couches raised high (13)

وَّ اَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوْعَةٌ(14)

And cups put in place (14)

وَّ نَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوْفَةٌ(15)

And cushions lined up (15)

وَّ زَرَابِیُّ مَبْثُوْثَةٌﭤ(16)

And carpets spread out. (16)

اَفَلَا یَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَى الْاِبِلِ كَیْفَ خُلِقَتْﭨ(17)

Then do they not look at the camels - how they were created? (17)

وَ اِلَى السَّمَآءِ كَیْفَ رُفِعَتْﭨ(18)

And at the sky - how it was raised? (18)

وَ اِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَیْفَ نُصِبَتْﭨ(19)

And at the mountains - how they were firmly set up? (19)

وَ اِلَى الْاَرْضِ كَیْفَ سُطِحَتْﭨ(20)

And at the earth - how it was spread out? (20)

فَذَكِّرْ۫ؕ-اِنَّمَاۤ اَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌﭤ(21)

So remind [them], [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. (21)

لَسْتَ عَلَیْهِمْ بِمُصَۜیْطِرٍ(22)

You are not over them a controller. (22)

اِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلّٰى وَ كَفَرَ(23)

Except for one who turns away and disbelieves, (23)

فَیُعَذِّبُهُ اللّٰهُ الْعَذَابَ الْاَكْبَرَﭤ(24)

Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. (24)

اِنَّ اِلَیْنَاۤ اِیَابَهُمْ(25)

Indeed, to Us is their return; (25)

ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ(26)

Then indeed, upon Us is their account. (26)
