Surah Al Haqqah With English Translations

اَلْحَآقَّةُ(1)

The Reality! (1)

مَا الْحَآقَّةُ(2)

What is the Reality? (2)

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحَآقَّةُﭤ(3)

And what can make you know what is the Reality? (3)

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ وَ عَادٌۢ بِالْقَارِعَةِ(4)

Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Disaster. (4)

فَاَمَّا ثَمُوْدُ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِالطَّاغِیَةِ(5)

But as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Overwhelming [blast]. (5)

وَ اَمَّا عَادٌ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِرِیْحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِیَةٍ(6)

And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind (6)

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَیَالٍ وَّ ثَمٰنِیَةَ اَیَّامٍۙ-حُسُوْمًاۙ-فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِیْهَا صَرْعٰىۙ-كَاَنَّهُمْ اَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِیَةٍ(7)

Which He imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. (7)

فَهَلْ تَرٰى لَهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَاقِیَةٍ(8)

Then do you see of them any remnant? (8)

وَ جَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَ مَنْ قَبْلَهٗ وَ الْمُؤْتَفِكٰتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِ(9)

And Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities came with sin. (9)

فَعَصَوْا رَسُوْلَ رَبِّهِمْ فَاَخَذَهُمْ اَخْذَةً رَّابِیَةً(10)

And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a severe seizure. (10)

اِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا الْمَآءُ حَمَلْنٰكُمْ فِی الْجَارِیَةِ(11)

Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the floating [ark] (11)

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَّ تَعِیَهَاۤ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِیَةٌ(12)

That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] retentive ears would retain it. (12)

فَاِذَا نُفِخَ فِی الصُّوْرِ نَفْخَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ(13)

So when the Horn is blown with one blast (13)

وَّ حُمِلَتِ الْاَرْضُ وَ الْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَّاحِدَةً(14)

And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - (14)

فَیَوْمَىٕذٍ وَّقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ(15)

Then on that Day the Reality will occur, (15)

وَ انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَآءُ فَهِیَ یَوْمَىٕذٍ وَّاهِیَةٌ(16)

And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it will be weak. (16)

وَّ الْمَلَكُ عَلٰۤى اَرْجَآىٕهَاؕ-وَ یَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ یَوْمَىٕذٍ ثَمٰنِیَةٌﭤ(17)

And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will bear the throne of your Lord above them on that Day. (17)

یَوْمَىٕذٍ تُعْرَضُوْنَ لَا تَخْفٰى مِنْكُمْ خَافِیَةٌ(18)

That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgment]; not hidden will be any secret of yours. (18)

فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِیَمِیْنِهٖۙ-فَیَقُوْلُ هَآؤُمُ اقْرَءُوْا كِتٰبِیَهْ(19)

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (19)

اِنِّیْ ظَنَنْتُ اَنِّیْ مُلٰقٍ حِسَابِیَهْ(20)

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (20)

فَهُوَ فِیْ عِیْشَةٍ رَّاضِیَةٍ(21)

So he will be in a pleasant life - (21)

فِیْ جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةٍ(22)

In a lofty garden, (22)

قُطُوْفُهَا دَانِیَةٌ(23)

Its [fruit] clusters will be near. (23)

كُلُوْا وَ اشْرَبُوْا هَنِیْٓــٴًـۢا بِمَاۤ اَسْلَفْتُمْ فِی الْاَیَّامِ الْخَالِیَةِ(24)

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." (24)

وَ اَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِشِمَالِهٖ ﳔ فَیَقُوْلُ یٰلَیْتَنِیْ لَمْ اُوْتَ كِتٰبِیَهْ(25)

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record (25)

وَ لَمْ اَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِیَهْ(26)

And had not known what my account was. (26)

یٰلَیْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِیَةَ(27)

Oh, I wish it had been the final [end]. (27)

مَاۤ اَغْنٰى عَنِّیْ مَالِیَهْ(28)

My wealth has not availed me, (28)

هَلَكَ عَنِّیْ سُلْطٰنِیَهْ(29)

My authority has perished from me." (29)

خُذُوْهُ فَغُلُّوْهُ(30)

[Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him, (30)

ثُمَّ الْجَحِیْمَ صَلُّوْهُ(31)

Then into Hellfire drive him. (31)

ثُمَّ فِیْ سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُوْنَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوْهُﭤ(32)

Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." (32)

اِنَّهٗ كَانَ لَا یُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ الْعَظِیْمِ(33)

Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, (33)

وَ لَا یَحُضُّ عَلٰى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِیْنِﭤ(34)

Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. (34)

فَلَیْسَ لَهُ الْیَوْمَ هٰهُنَا حَمِیْمٌ(35)

So there is not for him here today any devoted friend (35)

وَّ لَا طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِیْنٍ(36)

Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; (36)

لَّا یَاْكُلُهٗۤ اِلَّا الْخَاطِـــٴُـوْنَ(37)

None will eat it except the sinners. (37)

فَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُوْنَ(38)

So I do not swear by what you see (38)

وَ مَا لَا تُبْصِرُوْنَ(39)

And what you do not see (39)

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِیْمٍ(40)

Indeed, it is the word of a noble messenger. (40)

وَّ مَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍؕ-قَلِیْلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُوْنَ(41)

And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe. (41)

وَ لَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍؕ-قَلِیْلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُوْنَﭤ(42)

Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember. (42)

تَنْزِیْلٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَ(43)

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. (43)

وَ لَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَیْنَا بَعْضَ الْاَقَاوِیْلِ(44)

And if Muhammad had invented about Us some sayings, (44)

لَاَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْیَمِیْنِ(45)

We would have seized him by the right hand; (45)

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِیْنَ(46)

Then We would have cut from him the aorta. (46)

فَمَا مِنْكُمْ مِّنْ اَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حٰجِزِیْنَ(47)

And not one of you could have averted [it] from him. (47)

وَ اِنَّهٗ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِیْنَ(48)

And indeed, it is a reminder for the righteous. (48)

وَ اِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ اَنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُّكَذِّبِیْنَ(49)

And indeed, We know that among you are deniers. (49)

وَ اِنَّهٗ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى الْكٰفِرِیْنَ(50)

And indeed, it will be a regret upon the disbelievers. (50)

وَ اِنَّهٗ لَحَقُّ الْیَقِیْنِ(51)

And indeed, it is the truth of certainty. (51)

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِیْمِ(52)

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. (52)
