Surah Al Mutaffifin With English Translations

وَیْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِیْنَ(1)

Woe to those who give less [than what is due], (1)

الَّذِیْنَ اِذَا اكْتَالُوْا عَلَى النَّاسِ یَسْتَوْفُوْنَ(2)

Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. (2)

وَ اِذَا كَالُوْهُمْ اَوْ وَّ زَنُوْهُمْ یُخْسِرُوْنَﭤ(3)

But when they give a measure or weight to people, they cause loss. (3)

اَلَا یَظُنُّ اُولٰٓىٕكَ اَنَّهُمْ مَّبْعُوْثُوْنَ(4)

Do those not think that they will be resurrected (4)

لِیَوْمٍ عَظِیْمٍ(5)

For a tremendous Day - (5)

یَّوْمَ یَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَﭤ(6)

The Day when [all of] mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? (6)

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِیْ سِجِّیْنٍﭤ(7)

No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in Sijjin. (7)

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا سِجِّیْنٌﭤ(8)

And what can make you know what is Sijjin? (8)

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُوْمٌﭤ(9)

It is a register inscribed. (9)

وَیْلٌ یَّوْمَىٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ(10)

Woe, that Day, to the deniers (10)

الَّذِیْنَ یُكَذِّبُوْنَ بِیَوْمِ الدِّیْنِﭤ(11)

Who deny the Day of Recompense. (11)

وَ مَا یُكَذِّبُ بِهٖۤ اِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ اَثِیْمٍ(12)

And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. (12)

اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِ اٰیٰتُنَا قَالَ اَسَاطِیْرُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَﭤ(13)

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." (13)

كَلَّا بَلْٚ- رَانَ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوْا یَكْسِبُوْنَ(14)

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of what they used to earn. (14)

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَّبِّهِمْ یَوْمَىٕذٍ لَّمَحْجُوْبُوْنَﭤ(15)

No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. (15)

ثُمَّ اِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِیْمِﭤ(16)

Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. (16)

ثُمَّ یُقَالُ هٰذَا الَّذِیْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَﭤ(17)

Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." (17)

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْاَبْرَارِ لَفِیْ عِلِّیِّیْنَﭤ(18)

No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyyun. (18)

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا عِلِّیُّوْنَﭤ(19)

And what can make you know what is 'Illiyyun? (19)

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُوْمٌ(20)

It is a register inscribed, (20)

یَّشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَ(21)

Witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. (21)

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ لَفِیْ نَعِیْمٍ(22)

Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure (22)

عَلَى الْاَرَآىٕكِ یَنْظُرُوْنَ(23)

On thrones, looking on. (23)

تَعْرِفُ فِیْ وُجُوْهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِیْمِ(24)

You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. (24)

یُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَّحِیْقٍ مَّخْتُوْمٍ(25)

They will be given to drink pure wine [which was] sealed (25)

خِتٰمُهٗ مِسْكٌؕ-وَ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ فَلْیَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُوْنَﭤ(26)

Its seal is musk. And for this let those who compete, compete. (26)

وَ مِزَاجُهٗ مِنْ تَسْنِیْمٍ(27)

And its mixture is of Tasnim, (27)

عَیْنًا یَّشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَﭤ(28)

A spring from which those brought near [to Allah] drink. (28)

اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ اَجْرَمُوْا كَانُوْا مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا یَضْحَكُوْنَ(29)

Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. (29)

وَ اِذَا مَرُّوْا بِهِمْ یَتَغَامَزُوْنَ(30)

And when they passed by them, they would exchange amused glances. (30)

وَ اِذَا انْقَلَبُوْۤا اِلٰۤى اَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوْا فَـكِهِیْنَ(31)

And when they returned to their families, they would return jesting. (31)

وَ اِذَا رَاَوْهُمْ قَالُوْۤا اِنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّوْنَ(32)

And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are astray." (32)

وَ مَاۤ اُرْسِلُوْا عَلَیْهِمْ حٰفِظِیْنَﭤ(33)

But they had not been sent as guardians over them. (33)

فَالْیَوْمَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ یَضْحَكُوْنَ(34)

So today those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers, (34)

عَلَى الْاَرَآىٕكِۙ-یَنْظُرُوْنَﭤ(35)

On thrones, looking on [at them]. (35)

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوْا یَفْعَلُوْنَ(36)

Have the disbelievers [not] been recompensed for what they used to do? (36)
