Surah Nuh With English Translations

اِنَّاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا نُوْحًا اِلٰى قَوْمِهٖۤ اَنْ اَنْذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِیْمٌ(1)

Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." (1)

قَالَ یٰقَوْمِ اِنِّیْ لَكُمْ نَذِیْرٌ مُّبِیْنٌ(2)

He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, (2)

اَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَ اتَّقُوْهُ وَ اَطِیْعُوْنِ(3)

[Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. (3)

یَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِّنْ ذُنُوْبِكُمْ وَ یُؤَخِّرْكُمْ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىؕ-اِنَّ اَجَلَ اللّٰهِ اِذَا جَآءَ لَا یُؤَخَّرُۘ-لَوْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ(4)

Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you until a specified term.' Indeed, the term [decreed by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew." (4)

قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّیْ دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِیْ لَیْلًا وَّ نَهَارًا(5)

He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people night and day, (5)

فَلَمْ یَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِیْۤ اِلَّا فِرَارًا(6)

But my invitation increased them not except in [their] fleeing. (6)

وَ اِنِّیْ كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوْۤا اَصَابِعَهُمْ فِیْۤ اٰذَانِهِمْ وَ اسْتَغْشَوْا ثِیَابَهُمْ وَ اَصَرُّوْا وَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا(7)

And indeed, every time I invited them that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. (7)

ثُمَّ اِنِّیْ دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا(8)

Then I invited them publicly; (8)

ثُمَّ اِنِّیْۤ اَعْلَنْتُ لَهُمْ وَ اَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ اِسْرَارًا(9)

Then I announced to them and confided to them secretly, (9)

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوْا رَبَّكُمْؕ-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ غَفَّارًا(10)

Saying, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He has ever been a Perpetual Forgiver. (10)

یُّرْسِلِ السَّمَآءَ عَلَیْكُمْ مِّدْرَارًا(11)

He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continued] showers (11)

وَّ یُمْدِدْكُمْ بِاَمْوَالٍ وَّ بَنِیْنَ وَ یَجْعَلْ لَّكُمْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّ یَجْعَلْ لَّكُمْ اَنْهٰرًاﭤ(12)

And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. (12)

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُوْنَ لِلّٰهِ وَقَارًا(13)

What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur (13)

وَ قَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ اَطْوَارًا(14)

While He has created you in stages? (14)

اَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَیْفَ خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ سَبْعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ طِبَاقًا(15)

Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens in layers (15)

وَّ جَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِیْهِنَّ نُوْرًا وَّ جَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا(16)

And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? (16)

وَ اللّٰهُ اَنْۢبَتَكُمْ مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ نَبَاتًا(17)

And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. (17)

ثُمَّ یُعِیْدُكُمْ فِیْهَا وَ یُخْرِجُكُمْ اِخْرَاجًا(18)

Then He will return you into it, and He will bring you forth [again] a [new] bringing forth. (18)

وَ اللّٰهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ بِسَاطًا(19)

And Allah has made for you the earth a spread [out floor] (19)

لِّتَسْلُكُوْا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا(20)

That you may traverse within it roads of passage." (20)

قَالَ نُوْحٌ رَّبِّ اِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِیْ وَ اتَّبَعُوْا مَنْ لَّمْ یَزِدْهُ مَالُهٗ وَ وَلَدُهٗۤ اِلَّا خَسَارًا(21)

Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have not increased him except in loss. (21)

وَ مَكَرُوْا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا(22)

And they conspired a great conspiracy (22)

وَ قَالُوْا لَا تَذَرُنَّ اٰلِهَتَكُمْ وَ لَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَّ لَا سُوَاعًا ﳔ وَّ لَا یَغُوْثَ وَ یَعُوْقَ وَ نَسْرًاﭤ(23)

And said, 'Never leave your [polytheistic] deities and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth or Ya'uq or Nasr.' (23)

وَ قَدْ اَضَلُّوْا كَثِیْرًا ﳛ وَ لَا تَزِدِ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ اِلَّا ضَلٰلًا(24)

And they have already misled many. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in error." (24)

مِمَّا خَطِیْٓــٴٰـتِهِمْ اُغْرِقُوْا فَاُدْخِلُوْا نَارًا ﳔ فَلَمْ یَجِدُوْا لَهُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَنْصَارًا(25)

[It was] because of their sins that they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah any helpers. (25)

وَ قَالَ نُوْحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ مِنَ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ دَیَّارًا(26)

And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from the disbelievers [even] one inhabitant. (26)

اِنَّكَ اِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ یُضِلُّوْا عِبَادَكَ وَ لَا یَلِدُوْۤا اِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا(27)

Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [children] ungrateful [to Allah] and wicked. (27)

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِیْ وَ لِوَالِدَیَّ وَ لِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَیْتِیَ مُؤْمِنًا وَّ لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِؕ-وَ لَا تَزِدِ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ اِلَّا تَبَارًا(28)

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house as a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction." (28)
