Detailed Course Structure: Step-by-Step Guidance

Our Qur’an Recitation Course is systematically divided into well-structured stages, each one focusing on a set of skills and knowledge. This is for the learner to use the comprehensive basic foundation built before they are given the chance to advance to a higher level.

Stage 1: Foundation – the Learning of the Arabic Alphabet and Basic Pronunciation

The syllabus begins with studying the Arabic alphabet the perfect enunciation of the latter should be excellent. This is a vital stage for beginner students as it caters to the needs of proper enunciation grounding.

Learning and Mastery of the Arabic Alphabet

The learner ought to;

• Identify each letter in its various forms which are initial, medial, and final
• Notice the difference between two similar shapes of the letters
• Be able to pronounce every letter factoring in the points of articulation.

Short and Long Vowels

Next, we introduce vowel sounds:

• Short Vowels: Fatha (ـَ), Kasra (ـِ), and Damma (ـُ).
• Long Vowels: Madd (ـَا, ـُو, ـِي).

Understanding how vowels impact pronunciation is crucial, as they change the meaning of words.

Basic Word Formation

Learners practice combining letters to form simple words and phrases. This stage involves:

• Reading simple words with the correct vowel sounds.
• Practicing common Quranic phrases and words.
• Focusing on the accurate pronunciation of letters when they are joined in words.

Stage 2: Introduction to Tajweed – Basic Rules and Application

When the students are at ease with the alphabet and some easy words, then we carry on to the module of Tajweed. The purpose of this level is to educate the basic rules of Tajweed and its application.

Definition of Tajweed

This is a first-level introduction to the terminology of Tajweed and its significance in the recitation of the Holy Quran. The learners will be introduced to the pre-recite principles, namely:

• The role of Tajweed in keeping the relevance of the Quranic beauty and meaning in its original form.
• It tells how a small mistake in pronunciation might lead to a complete change of meaning.

Basic Tajweed Rules

The following rules are covered:

• Noon Saakin and Tanween Rules: Learning the different rules for Noon Saakin (ن) and Tanween (ـً, ـٍ, ـٌ), including Izhaar, Ikhfa, Idgham, and Iqlaab.
• Meem Saakin Rules: Understanding the rules of Izhaar Shafawi, Ikh.
• Qalqala: More practice of the letters whose sound reverberate but are not assimilated in one consonant sound, that is ق، ط، ب، ج، د.

Practice

In this stage, the students are taken through the guided recitation that will enable them to practice the practical application of Tajweed rules. Through practice, students would have mastered the theory it entails and be comfortable as they read the verses of the Quran.

Stage 3: Intermediate Level – Reciting Short Surahs with Tajweed

Attainment At this stage learners start reciting short Surahs with a correct rhythm, fluently, and applying the Tajweed rules correctly.

Surahs Recitation

Learners practice reciting the following Surahs: Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Naas. Such Surahs are commonly repeated in daily prayers. In this way, it becomes easier for the learners to start learning these Surahs. 

Rhythm and Melody (Tarteel)

We introduce the concept of Tarteel – recitation of the Quran in a slow measured, and rhythmic tone. Practice includes:

• Pausing in the proper place( Waqf)
• Maintaining proper melody
• Reciting with melodious tunes following the prophetic tradition of beautifying one’s voice while reciting the Quran

Stage 4: Advanced Tajweed – Mastering Complex Rules

In this class, tajweed rules of expert level are given to the pupils. They continue practicing and become more good in their recitation skills.

Madd Rules

Various Madd rules to study in detail are:

• Madd Asli: For this, students are obligated to know the natural madd and also the timing of the elongation of vowels.
• Madd Far’i: Various Madd; Muttasil–linked Munfasil-Separated and Laazim-obligatory.

Advanced Stopping Rules (Waqf and Ibtidaa)

The students practice stopping at the right points and continuing without losing the tempo and meaning of the verses. The style of continuing to read after a stop is also learned here.

Practice of Long Surahs

Practice reading long Surahs such as Surah Yaseen, Surah Al Kahf, and Surah Ar-Rahman. This helps build stamina and fluency with the capability to maintain the application of the rules in long recitation period.

Stage 5: Specialized Training – Ijazah and Advanced Recitation Techniques

We also provide specialized training, which also encompasses preparation for the Ijazah certification _ official recognition to show that you have fully mastered recitation of the Quran and can teach.

Ijazah Preparation

Course content for this includes training in:

• Memorization (Hifz): Techniques to memorize the Quran, coupled with Tajweed application.
• Advanced Recitation Styles: Exploring various styles of reciting the Quran in rhythmic, tonic, and pronunciative distinctions.
• Teaching Methodology: For those candidates who are interested in Ijazah we provide them with how to teach others.

Ongoing Feedback and Improvement

The teacher provides ample feedback to candidates to bring even small changes in their recitation and remove minor lapses in recitation.

Stage 6: Ongoing Practice and Lifelong Learning

Even after the finish of the course, continued practice is necessory. We prepare the resources for continued learning, giving access to websites like recitation circles online. Moreover, we conduct the workshops regularly, and advanced classes for concurrent improvements.
