Allergies may have quite an impact on everyday life, sneezing all the time and itchy skin are one thing, but severe difficulties in breathing are quite another. Although it is accompanied by medical treatment, Muslims also rely on the effectiveness of dua (supplication) to request Allah (SWT) to grant them healing and relief. Making a dua because of an allergy is a religious means to feel better and relieved.
The Dua is:
Translation:
“Adhhib al-ba’sa, Rabb an-naas, ishfi anta ash-Shaafi, laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uka, shifaa’an laa yughaadiru saqamaa.”
English Translation:
“Remove the harm, O Lord of the people. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing – a healing that leaves no disease behind.”
This dua is recommended during any illness, including allergies, and it was taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

What Are Allergies?
Allergies happen when the immune system overreacts to something harmless, like dust, pollen, animal fur, or certain foods. This reaction can lead to symptoms such as:
- Sneezing and a runny nose
- Itchy or watery eyes
- Skin rashes and hives
- Breathing difficulties or asthma
- Digestive problems
Islamic View on Illness and Healing
In Islam, illness is not only a test but also a means of purification. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment.”
— (Sahih Bukhari)
This means we should seek both medical treatment and spiritual healing. Duas, especially when recited with trust in Allah, can bring relief and calm to both the body and soul.
Other Islamic Tips to Deal with Allergies
While making dua for an allergy, there are some additional Islamic practices you can follow:
- Ruqyah (Spiritual Healing): Read or listen to Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayat-ul-Kursi, and Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Naas daily.
- Use of Black Seed (Nigella Sativa): The Prophet ﷺ said that black seed is a cure for every disease except death. Some people find it helpful in boosting immunity.
- Honey and Zamzam Water: Both are mentioned in Hadith as having healing properties. Use them with the intention of shifa (healing).
Conclusion:
Allergies can be a daily nuisance to most people, yet Islam has given us beautiful means to find relief in the form of dua. The allergy dua is not physically focused on healing but also on remaining spiritually strong and close to Allah in difficulty.
Never use your duas instead of medical treatment, healthy living, and patience. And have faith that, through all the trials, Allah is enabling you to become closer to Him.
