Surah Al Qamar With English Translations

اِقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَ ٱنْشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ (1)

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split [in two]. (1)

وَ اِنْ یَّرَوْا اٰیَةً یُّعْرِضُوْا وَ یَقُوْلُوْا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ (2)

And if they see a sign, they turn away and say, "[This is but] continuous magic." (2)

وَ كَذَّبُوْا وَ ٱتَّبَعُوْۤا اَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَ كُلُّ اَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (3)

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But every matter has a [decreed] limit. (3)

وَ لَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ مِّنَ ٱلْاَنْۢبَآءِ مَا فِیْهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ (4)

And there has certainly come to them of the news that in which there is deterrence - (4)

حِكْمَةٌۢ بٰلِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ (5)

(It is) высшая [transcendent] wisdom, but warnings do not avail. (5)

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ یَوْمَ یَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ اِلٰىٰ شَیْءٍ نُّكُرٍ (6)

So turn away from them. The Day the caller calls to a terrible thing, (6)

خُشَّعًا اَبْصَارُهُمْ یَخْرُجُوْنَ مِنَ ٱلْاَجْدَاثِ كَاَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنْتَشِرٌ (7)

Their eyes lowered, they will emerge from the graves as if they were scattered locusts, (7)

مُّهْطِعِیْنَ اِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ یَقُوْلُ ٱلْكٰفِرُوْنَ هٰذَا یَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ (8)

Hastening toward the caller; the disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." (8)

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوْحٍ فَكَذَّبُوْا عَبْدَنَا وَ قَالُوْا مَجْنُوْنٌ وَّ ٱزْدُجِرَ (9)

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. (9)

فَدَعَا رَبَّهٗۤ اَنِّیْ مَغْلُوْبٌ فَٱنْتَصِرْ (10)

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overcome, so help [me]." (10)

فَفَتَحْنَآ اَبْوَابَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ (11)

So We opened the gates of the sky with rain pouring down (11)

وَّ فَجَّرْنَا ٱلْاَرْضَ عُیُوْنًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلٰۤىٰ اَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ (12)

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already предрешено [decreed]. (12)

وَ حَمَلْنٰهُ عَلٰىٰ ذَاتِ اَلْوَاحٍ وَّ دُسُرٍ (13)

And We carried him on a [ship] of planks and nails, (13)

تَجْرِیْ بِاَعْیُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَنْ كَانَ كُفِرَ (14)

Sailing under Our observation as recompense for he who had been denied. (14)

وَ لَقَدْ تَّرَكْنٰهَآ اٰیَةً فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (15)

And We have left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? (15)

فَكَیْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (16)

Then how [severe] was My punishment and My warnings. (16)

وَ لَقَدْ یَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْاٰنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (17)

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (17)

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَیْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (18)

'Aad denied; then how [severe] was My punishment and My warnings. (18)

اِنَّآ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَیْهِمْ رِیْحًا صَرْصَرًا فِیْ یَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ (19)

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, (19)

تَنْزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَاَنَّهُمْ اَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنْقَعِرٍ (20)

Snatching away the people as if they were uprooted trunks of palm trees. (20)

فَكَیْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (21)

Then how [severe] was My punishment and My warnings. (21)

وَ لَقَدْ یَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْاٰنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (22)

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (22)

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ (23)

Thamud denied the warnings. (23)

فَقَالُوْۤا اَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهٗۤ اِنَّآ اِذًا لَّفِیْ ضَلٰلٍ وَّ سُعُرٍ (24)

For they said, "A man - one among us - should we follow him? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. (24)

ءَاُلْقِیَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَیْهِ مِنْۢ بَیْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ اَشِرٌ (25)

Has the reminder been sent down upon him alone out of [all] of us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." (25)

سَیَعْلَمُوْنَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْاَشِرُ (26)

They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. (26)

اِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَ ٱصْطَبِرْ (27)

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them and be patient. (27)

وَ نَبِّئْهُمْ اَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَیْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ (28)

And inform them that the water is shared between them, each drink [taken in] turn. (28)

فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطٰى فَعَقَرَ (29)

But they called their companion, and he dared [to slaughter] and crippled [it]. (29)

فَكَیْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (30)

Then how [severe] was My punishment and My warnings. (30)

اِنَّآ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَیْهِمْ صَیْحَةً وَّاحِدَةً فَكَانُوْا كَهَشِیْمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ (31)

Indeed, We sent upon them one scream, and they became like the dry stubble [used] by one who pens [livestock]. (31)

وَ لَقَدْ یَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْاٰنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (32)

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (32)

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوْطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ (33)

The people of Lot denied the warnings. (33)

اِنَّآ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَیْهِمْ حَاصِبًا اِلَّآ اٰلَ لُوْطٍ نَجَّیْنٰهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ (34)

Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot; We saved them by night (34)

نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِنْدِنَا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِیْ مَنْ شَكَرَ (35)

As favor from Us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. (35)

وَ لَقَدْ اَنْذَرَهُمْ بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِٱلنُّذُرِ (36)

And he had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. (36)

وَ لَقَدْ رَاوَدُوْهُ عَنْ ضَیْفِهٖ فَطَمَسْنَآ اَعْیُنَهُمْ فَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (37)

And they had demanded of him his guests, so We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and My warnings." (37)

وَ لَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (38)

And there came upon them by morning a lasting punishment. (38)

فَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابِیْ وَ نُذُرِ (39)

[It was said], "Taste My punishment and My warnings." (39)

وَ لَقَدْ یَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْاٰنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (40)

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (40)

وَ لَقَدْ جَآءَ اٰلَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ (41)

And there had come to the people of Pharaoh the warners. (41)

كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰیٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَاَخَذْنٰهُمْ اَخْذَ عَزِیْزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ (42)

They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with the seizure of one mighty and capable. (42)

اَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَیْرٌ مِّنْ اُولٰٓىٕكُمْ اَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَآءَةٌ فِی ٱلزُّبُرِ (43)

Are your disbelievers better than those [former peoples], or have you immunity in the scriptures? (43)

اَمْ یَقُوْلُوْنَ نَحْنُ جَمِیْعٌ مُّنْتَصِرٌ (44)

Or do they say, "We are an assembly, 능히 승리하는 [able to overcome]?" (44)

سَیُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَ یُوَلُّوْنَ ٱلدُّبُرَ (45)

The assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat]. (45)

بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَ ٱلسَّاعَةُ اَدْهٰى وَ اَمَرُّ (46)

But the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more disastrous and bitter. (46)

اِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِیْنَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍ وَّ سُعُرٍ (47)

Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness. (47)

یَوْمَ یُسْحَبُوْنَ فِی ٱلنَّارِ عَلٰىٰ وُجُوْهِهِمْ ذُوْقُوْا مَسَّ سَقَرَ (48)

The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar [Hell]." (48)

اِنَّا كُلَّ شَیْءٍ خَلَقْنٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ (49)

Indeed, all things We have created with [precise] measure. (49)

وَ مَآ اَمْرُنَآ اِلَّا وٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ (50)

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye. (50)

وَ لَقَدْ اَهْلَكْنَآ اَشْیَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (51)

And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember? (51)

وَ كُلُّ شَیْءٍ فَعَلُوْهُ فِی ٱلزُّبُرِ (52)

And everything they did is in the records, (52)

وَ كُلُّ صَغِیْرٍ وَّ كَبِیْرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ (53)

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed. (53)

اِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِیْنَ فِیْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّ نَهَرٍ (54)

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and rivers, (54)

فِیْ مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِیْكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ (55)

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability. (55)
